Sergei Akindinovich
Date of birth: November 16, 1952. Education: Kyrgyz State University, Biological Faculty.
Speciality: Biologist. Professional employment: 1976–1981 – Director of Zoological Museum (Kyrgyz State University).
1981–1990 – Head of Ichthyology service (Regional Administration for the protection of fish resources in Kyrgyz and Tadjik SSRs).
1990–2000 – Manager of the Group for providing of foreign hunt tours (Kyrgyz Union for Hunting & Fishery).
Experienced in organising of trophy hunts for Marco Polo Argali. During whole period of work the main interest is collection of palaearctic
lepidopterans and selected families of beetles, study of pre-imaginal biology of butterflies, including elaboration of methods for the breeding
in lab conditions. Participant/organiser in over 70 field expeditions in Middle Asia and Kazakhstan. Member of Kyrgyz Entomological Society,
one of compilers of the Genetical Fund Cadastre and Red Data Book (2nd edition) of Kyrgyzstan. Since 2000 up to present – owner of free enterprise
and full-time amateur entomologist, researcher of regional entomofauna, particularly pre-imaginal biology of butterflies, provider of scientific
expeditions for foreign entomologists.

Date of birth: August 11, 1967. Education: Lomonosov Moscow State University, Biological Faculty (1984–1991, B.Sc./M.S., Zoology & Botany, specialisation “Entomology”);
additional specialities – “Military Epidemiology” (Sr Lt /medical serv., 1994) and “Global Ecological Problems” (1991, Moscow).
Prof. employment: since 1991 up to present – Assoc. Scientific Researcher,
Dpt. of Ecology & Systematic of Invertebrates (up to 2003 – Entomology Dpt.) of the Institute for Biology &
Pedology (Kyrgyz National Academy of Sciences), since 2001 – Curator of IBB fund dry insect collection (440,000+ deposited units).
Areas of expertise & fields of interests: Taxonomic Inventory of regional biota (selected taxa);
Fauna and Zoogeography of Hymenoptera of Tien-Shan; Redlisting and Conservation of relict and endangered species;
Biodiversity monitoring; Scientific collections & Museums; Epidemiology of natural zoonoses.
Other activities: Expert in taxonomy/biodiversity in some international projects (including endangered spp., pests, environment evaluation),
scientific editing and translation, training & supervising of students’ diploma works, compiling of regional red lists,
management for collection funds, organisation of expeditions. Participant in over 95 field entomological expeditions, mainly in Middle Asian mountains.
About 60 publications in entomology, ecology, botany, herpetology. The beginning of beetles’ collecting – 1974. Member of Kyrgyz and Russian
Entomological Societies, also “Aleyne” Ecological Movement of Kyrgyzstan;
one of editors/compilers/illustrators of the Red Data Book (2nd edition) of Kyrgyzstan.
